It would be useful to be able to merge consecutive notes of the same pitch inside a note region, in addition to be able to split them with the Razor tool. Once two or more consecutive notes (contiguous or not) of the same pitch are selected, a new item ("Merge Notes") on the note context menu would appear, allowing them to be merged into a single note. It would be analogous to merging regions.

Would this help with note gliding?
No, you need notes of different pitch to be able to glide between them.
I guess the merged note would start on the first note and end on the end of the last note, right? So a user could select multiple notes of the same pitch for the merger.
One could also select a region that covers multiple pitches, to merge multiple pitches in parallel. This would allow the user to convert a staccato-like melody into a legato-like.
I cannot decide if this is of (enough) practical use compared to the increased complexity.
For me it would be enough to just select two or more successive notes of the same pitch inside a region and choose "Merge Notes" on the note context menu to get a single note spanning the total duration of the original notes, from beginning of first to end of last. It would be the complementary function to splitting notes.
Bumping this. I import MIDI files often and usually I need to clean up repeated notes with the same pitch, merging them into one.
I guess the algorithm should pick the velocity of the first note, right?
That sounds completely reasonable.
It works like a charm. Huge time saver for me, thanks!
