Maybe it would be practical to have "Next" and "Previous" buttons somewhere at the top of each topic page (probably on the right side, where most of the interaction happens) to advance to the next topic on the current sub-board or return to the previous one. That way it wouldn't be necessary to return to the topics list page to open a new topic.
