I have been trying to study piano scale and chord progressions. And one thing I do is make ghost tracks. Ghost tracks are to show notes on other tracks. Mostly are shown in grey. I use this to follow a scale to make melodies. But I can't do that one here... kinda. I create the scale on a note track. For example, I wanna use the D dorian scale. So I draw the scale, and lower the velocity on it to 0. But I have to draw the notes on the same track. That's where ghost tracks come in. I can draw the scale one track, and make it a ghost track. Then on the other one, my actually melody on the ghost notes. I think this should be applied by left or double-clicking the note track or the notes themselves, and having the option to make it a ghost track. And this can be using for almost every genre! So I hope this will turn some heads, and getting this topic talked about on this site. And I might leave a link about ghost tracks too. ;)

Great idea, but it should be in the beta feature request page.

Sounds like a cool idea, actually
I think that a better way to solve this would be to make Studio musical scales aware. Then you wouldn't even need to draw any ghost tracks. Just choose the scale you want from a drop down menu, and the piano roll will show/mark only the corresponding notes. Ghost tracks aren't normally used to work on scales, but instead to compare two or more parallel melodies and check that there aren't any melodic or rhythmic clashes (counterpoint).
The option to add custom scales should also be there, in the event that you are using an obscure scale, you can still use those features.
Yes, I agree. A user defined scale could be one more option of the drop down menu.
yess i was just about to say yall need ghost notes for scales but custom scales would be great
thats better than ghost tracks in my opinion tf
