Make app's layout persistent between sessions and project switching

Here's a list of layout characteristics that in my opinion should be preserved (persistent) when re-opening a project or especially when switching from one project to another one. Right now these characteristics always return to a default, which slows down workflow considerably.

  • Desktop view pan (position) and zoom level. Now it always defaults to "frame entire arrangement".
  • Software keyboard. Now it is always deactivated, which is annoying when switching between open projects.
  • Timeline overview window. Now it always reverts to the 9 bars default.

Just giving this a bump. Now that we can open several projects in Next, the zoom always gets reset to "frame all" even when switching from one project to another. It's annoying to have to recreate the zoom and framing you just had before each time when you want to return to a project and continue working on a particular part of the arrangement. I think that zoom and pan position should be saved with each project and be persistent between sessions and project switches.

Updated this topic with layout features that I think should be persistent between sessions and when switching projects.

I agree. This might get split into multiple request due to technical reasons.

Just found another UI aspect that isn't persistent between project switching: On the Space synthesizer, which display (Sound A, Sound B or Envelopes) is active on the screen. After switching back to a project, the display reverts to Sound A no matter what was before.
