Right now, the software keyboard is opened from a particular synth's context menu and sends note data to that synth only. Opening another software keyboard from a different synth's context menu replaces the previous one and sends note data to the new synth only.
I propose to make the software synth a "global" feature:
-
It would be opened and closed from the Window menu on the top bar.
-
It would have a context menu with as many menu items as note receiving capable synths on the arrangement, plus a "Follow Selection" item.
-
If "Follow Selection" would be checked, it would send note data to whichever synth was selected. It would send note data to all synths in a multi selection.
-
If a synth name was checked, it would send note data to that synth regardless of selection. Multiple synths could be checked in the menu.
-
Follow Selection and specific synth/s modes would be mutually exclusive. It's either one or the other.
-
Note data sent to any synth would also highlight the corresponding note in the piano roll of any expanded note region in a track from that/those synth/synths.

This behaviour would be especially useful when playing synths connected to other synths via their audio out / audio in connectors. See https://www.audiotool.com/board/feature_requests/synths_plugged_into
