Introduce new time display formats for playback position and time-line ruler

In the Flash app there is a button to change the playback position's format between bars/beats/steps and minutes/seconds/milliseconds. Next is as of now limited to bars/beats/steps in both places. Especially for those working for video, I suggest introducing a context menu (like the one to choose the peak level meter's properties) on both places that allows us to choose a variety of different time formats, including formats commonly used in film/video (film rate, HD, PAL, NTSC, ATSC, samples and so on). The list of formats could also include subsets of the main ones, basically simplified versions without the smallest subdivisions. This would be useful in cases where, for example, the "steps" subdivision in the "bars/beats/steps" time format wasn't needed. A good example to model this list on is Audacity's time display format menu.

Yiiiis when working with vid and audiotool, I tend to just import my track into audacity so I can have a 30frame/sec based timeline. Having this kind of ressources in audiotool would be a blessing.

For the sake of usability, the context menu could be used on either place (playback position in the transport and time ruler on the time-line) and would change the display format in both places.

At least I hope that they re-implement Flash's minutes/seconds/milliseconds. With that, it only took a click to find out how long your track would be, or when would the chorus hit. Now I need a chronometer or a calculator!

If you click the "BARS" text on the top status bar you can change it to display "TIME" in minutes/seconds.
Unfortunately, there's no way to view it in milliseconds or the various time formats that you advocate for.
I'd just be curious if a general consensus would also favour a feature like this...

Thanks, I missed that. There's no hint about it in the tool-tip. I think that alternative time displays are a must in a pro DAW.

Bumping this. The time display being limited to minutes and seconds seems insufficient. Even Flash had milliseconds.
