Personally I think this is unnecessary. It would also re-introduce the problem about private chats.
You're already able to contact a fellow user by simply leaving a message on their wall and when collaborating with other people in the app, then you're able to a chat/voice chat and share ideas and thoughts about the music you're making.
Audiotool is primarily about the music and yes there is a social aspect to this, but I think the above already mentioned (and existing) features serve this purpose in a very satisfactory manner.
