Genre Charts Should Inherit the User Profile Structure

Just an idea I came up with and didn't want to lose (I come up with a lot of ideas that never see the light of day, also, over-the-top mockups are not easy to do... yeah, this one doesn't have one, sorry)

With the new genre charts, Audiotool has a lot of potential for incorporating features that are both (1) catered to each individual user, making the platform more unique and personalized through software, rather than flashy design and (2) better integrated and purposeful with the ideology of the platform.

The genre charts are not easily navigable with the current implementation, especially if a user frequents only a select and particular group of charts (if we are to assume it is plural). If the charts were designed much like user pages, (1) the developers could decrease the complexity of the website (increasing load times) through the principle of inheritance, but, moreover, (2) more features could be added to supplementally increase the functionality of the genre chart feature.

Possibilities

Users can follow genres to stay up to date with new tracks that chart rather than having to check each time (notifications would be updated to include this)

Users would be able to view which other users follow their favourite genres and engage in conversation

Charts would have walls (or the same implementation under a different name) where users can engage in conversation specifically about the genre (without spamming someone else's wall--links would be disabled by default)

Audiotool could gather data about which charts and tracks the user follows and better suggest tracks under track suggestions, radio, and on the newsfeed

I like this idea.
