Dynamic Centroid Channel Labels

Apollo · started 2017-10-01 22:01 · updated 2018-08-02 17:56

Centroid channel labels should rename dynamically (e.g. when that device is renamed/defining attribute is changed) to the source device instead of the most adjacent device in the chain. Even if someone wires things differently, like two synths in one channel, the algorithm would choose the one furthest in the chain and if it needs to be renamed it can be. (For Synth chains, it'd be the synth; for Maschiniste channels, it'd be the sample name; for classic drum machines, it'd be the drum name; for Audiotracks it'd be the device name).

So I just retested it and it does look like it's intended to work but doesn't 100% of the time.
In my test I have auto-connect turned off (as it is usually) and added a Pulverisateur.
I then added a chorus and connected the Pulv to the chorus and connected the chorus to the Centroid.
This renames the Centroid channel accordingly. I tried to rename the pulv to "thing" and the Centroid channel updates, all good.
However, after adding a new device (say a P.EQ), moving the connection from the chorus to it and reconnecting everything in the chain...
The channel (surprisingly), renames to Chorus, rather than the P.EQ.

Thanks, it looks pretty stable for the most part.
Though I might make a request for a per-device exception

Meaning this currently doesn't work for Maschiniste channels (they're only renamed after the device name rather than corresponding sample names). I haven't yet tested it for the classic drum machines, but I only assume the behaviour is the same.

From what I've tested, this can be regarded as implemented.
It works on both the Maschiniste and classic TR808 and 909s
