General Description
*Up to 10 Audio tracks can be played at once and each one can be pitched differently
*Samples can be timed and sent to the device through their corresponding Audio track on the timeline
*One shot samples are automatically pitch corrected when imported onto a track on the timeline
*Samples can be manually pitch corrected using dials on the device for coarse and fine tuning
*While tuning, a constant middle C note plays in the background to ease the manual pitch correction
*Note tracks on the timeline can be used to pitch and play the sample according to the piano roll
*Multiple samples can be pitch corrected and played at once as tuning is independent to each Audio track
*Usual parameters like Polyphone/Monophone play mode, Glide time, Gain, Pan, Unisono and a Heisenberg-style Filter pad are essential
Why is this useful?
Vocal tuning and pitching of certain sampled sounds would be exponentially easier with a dedicated sampler, thus avoiding the need to upload different variations of the same sample in various pitches thus reducing the redundant space used.

Yes, pls. This would be incredibly useful.
YES PLEASE
please add this!
i also really enjoy resampling and would love to be able to make melodies out of one-shots!
Duplicate. There are too many sampler topics to list on the feature request board, at least eight. Here's one:
https://www.audiotool.com/board/feature_requests/realistic_sampler
Please use the search function before posting.
Closed by mistake. This topic is older than the linked one in the previous close. Apologies.
I stg if somebody says “you can do this with a Machiniste”...
No. Just no. It would be a lot nicer to have a dedicated device for this tbh
why not just use machiniste? it's got a channel for each sample
@kurpingspace2 id want specific option to tune the sample so that manipulating the sample stays just as simple
angry crying laughing emoji
reEEEEEEEE
Am I a joke to you?
yeah
Oh ok
@kurpingspace2 wuts funny?
r u serious
If u knew how i manipulated samples youd understand
Did you even read this comment ^ and my reply?
U replied to me, tho
facedesk
The Machiniste is still a good workaround and it's readily available. For the rest of the features you'll have to wait until we find the time to implement them.
Filter Cutoff can also be implemented by using the Machiniste's own filter. It is very powerful and can be modulated per step.
I really wonder if the devs are going to add this
I think this would be a great addition, mainly because you can mess with samples a bit more, and it allows more room for creativity.
Tho I think it would be a bit difficult for the devs to come up with this device
Its still a really good idea, and cant wait to see it become a thing
@chordofdestruction any word on this idea coming soon?
As soon as we work on new devices a sampler will be one of the first things to implement.
Sadly there's a lot of other things that have to be done before that.
What new devices can we expect?
would also practically eliminate the want for a "realistic piano sound." This is a great idea.
We already got sample manipulation
why do we need a sampler, it's the same shit
So that you can easily play one or more samples chromatically.
I love how 10 months ago u "couldn't wait to this this become a thing." What happened?
i must have been high asf lmao
its been 5 months, now what?
mmmmmmmmmm its opennnnn

let us let the sampler automatically pitch correct each individual sample for more control, to avoid confusion. instead of up to 10 audio tracks, make it extendable like the centroid. give us individual outputs for each of the audio tracks. and unlike the machiniste, keep the samples at source volume. oh and use a line representative for interpolation between the speed points on the sample, i kinda need it for backspins, but it could be used for other stuff.
BASED SAMPLER
pog
I can see this easily spelling creativity and calling for a much easier to access way of using vocal samples. I would highly suggest adding a second function to this. Having that ability to externally control the pitch change and stimulating a vocoder would be wonderful. This could be done with the matrix.
I’m still in full support of the original idea.

this would be fantastic for breakcore
reaaaally looking forward to when this eventually gets added, whenever that may be. currently probably one of the biggest thing urging me to move to another daw is lack of robust sample tuning
I regret how I worded this comment
vocoder with matrix? explain
Is the device still in progress or has it been cancelled?
it was never in progress to begin with
Then I don't know what's the point in the post if it was never in progress.
... because it's a request?
Not an update.
That makes sense.
Feature requests are petitions from the community of users to the AT developers to implement a missing feature in the Studio. There's no guarantee that they will implement them. There's more info here: https://www.audiotool.com/board/feature_requests/how_to_write_feature
I mesaged another user about this and they refered me to the machiniste but I looked through the manual and it does not seem like there is a way to manualy 'cue' a sample live with midi input. This would be a great feature
just select "create a note track" unless I'm misunderstanding
he wants midi control over a sample.
Place down a Machinste
Insert sample
Right click on the Machinste, anywhere where the grey plastic is.
Click on "Learn MIDI"
Press any button on your MIDI device (in your case PAD 1)
The device is now linked to this machine. You can tune some settings to change what buttons do what i think, if i remember correctly. But ultimately thats how you do it. I've done it before with a midi controller knob
how has such an essential aspect of 99% of daws been left ignored like this for so long lol
It'll come after the audiotool sex update is out
i yearn for the touch of a woman
six years later. The only reason I can think of for them not adding this instrument is fear of copyright infringement when samples get easier to work with, which is fair I suppose. But this is practically the only thing AT is missing that would make life easier (except for maybe VST support, lol). It's just excruciating to write an 808 bassline with the machiniste's PITCH KNOB.
Also, I'd just like to add that a simple FW-BW loop option for samples being played would really open up a lot of opportunities for making those massive oldschool dnb pads ^^^
I just wanna sample random stuff i find, and this feature would allow me to not have to go through the tedious process of exporting samples to other DAWs and then coming back here
at the very least yall could make it possible to add a note track onto 1 sample on a machiniste
this is like waiting for updates on silksong
please just make it possible for me to create instruments out of things that shouldnt be instruments :(
Yeah this would help, I could use one shots and pitch them to make mels
if I had more software eng. experience, I would literally volunteer to make this device for FREE as a donation
if the AT crew would allow it, could we crowdfund a community member to make this for them? is that even legal? lmao, unlikely but a man can dream
I think some effects in the past were designed by users, like the quasar (I think)
