Being able to group the timeline dynamically is crucial to an effective and simple workflow, as mentioned. But, imagine the possibilities of being able to group channels in the now extensive multi-channel mixer. In the same sense, basses, leads, arps, percussion (kicks, hats, etc.), etc. could effectively be grouped in this way.

Do you mean like buses in a mixing console, which collect audio from different tracks to treat it as a unit before sending it to the main output? Or just visual grouping of channel strips?
Mostly visual grouping is what I was leaning to, but the other might be cool too
