CENTROID - add preset functionality, and add "resize to (n) channels" feature

  • resize by (n) channels -
I would love to have the ability to resize a Centroid to a select number of channels. I would suggest adding a row in the context menu for removing/adding strips that lets you input a value, either replacing the plus/minus one channel-strip option, or in addition to those.

When I don't need to mind the performance overhead I often use multiple Centroids as submixers in addition to my main mixer group. Most of the time I only need about eight channels, so having the option to just enter a value instead of having to make 32 unnecessary mouse clicks would be appreciated! Of course, this is on all accounts a minor inconvenience, but quality of life stuff none the less.

I also suggest a check to take place, aiming to prevent a user from removing channel-strips that are still connected to any devices. E.g, If a user requests the removal of five channel-strips, and all but two are in use, they should receive a notice that a corresponding number of channel strips must be freed up before mass-removal can take place. Alternatively, an "remove unused channel-strips" feature could be useful, but only if the mixer is in use. I assume that feature could work as a quick shortcut to shrink the mixer to it's minimal configuration of eight channels.

  • presets -
Any thoughts on adding preset support for the Centroid?
I'd find that useful for building and mixing drum kits, in addition to a Machiniste preset. Being able to recall a Centroid preset with channel-strips that each have their given names, simple eq values, gain/level, AUX send values, etc, would speed things up for me when working with my own samples that are made to be used in kits.

Again, just quality of life stuff, but I'd love to hear you guys' thoughts on this. Keep up the good work <3

You could create a draft with a minimal Centroid (4 channel strips) or a set of connected minimal Centroids for your submixing and use it as a template for new projects. Then you don't need to delete channel strips each time, just add more as you need them. You could even label and put initial values on your channel strips in your template draft, since I don't think that generic presets for a mixer (or a compressor, etc.) makes sense due to the variability of the source material.

I second this. This would make the centroid a lot easier and convenient to use

I think it would also be cool if there was an option for disabling the fader automations on all machines (AKA the things that show the peaks/volume). This would really help a ton with performance, especially in a project with a lot of quantums, gravities, and centroids.
