Age Restrictions

Children should not be on AudioTool, for safety purposes. If we could add a age requirement to AudioTool, maybe we can somewhat prevent this from happening.

I have to agree with you, but not only for safety reasons.
See, many sites have to comply with laws that don't permit children under 13 to have access on many websites, like YouTube or Miraheze.

However, that kinda defeats the point of audiotool being an "open platform for music makers" a tiny bit.

That's like saying YT isn't a "open platform for content creators" because it has age guidelines
A little asterisk in fine print at least shows you're aware of the funky stuff that goes on your platform
Kids will of course ignore it, I mean heck I made fake emails that said I was 58 when I was 11. Doesn't mean adults shouldn't try and (within reason) act responsibly on their part
Then again I have zero clue if this is already a thing. I haven't created an AT account in 3 years. This whole board could be redundant.

To be honest it's useless, just like other websites you can fake your age. And like YT requiring an actual credit card is annoying.

Fakes aside, it could at the very least stop a few dozen more contentious kids, or maybe they'll ask for a parent's permission and via extension have them be aware of their online activity. AT is a comparably tiny app to other media platforms and it's all browser so guardians have zero clue their kids are even on the site.

I partially disagree. Perhaps having comments disabled (having a restricted mode) like YouTube could help, however, AudioTool should be open for people of all ages to create music on. Just for music, too, as I know there have been problem with this site being used as an online dating tool recently.

That being said, I think the mods have done an excellent job taking that stuff down; so far my experience on AT has been very wholesome, everyone helping each other to create better music. At least, that's what I've seen in my small corner of the 'Tool.

In my experience, the younger generation can be very immature and problematic. They cause unnecessary drama and hurt the AudioTool community more than they help. This doesn’t mean every young person is going to be like that, but most are. If we want AudioTool to be only for music, we can’t include things that aren’t music related. Or people that are most likely not going to be involved in music. I think a 13+ year age limit should be made. Not only for the drama, but for safety reasons. Cyber bullying, e-dating, harassment and more can be found on AudioTool. There have been quite the amount of incidents where pedophiles and cyber threats made occurrences. Although the Mods can take these accounts down, it’s better to prevent children from being exposed to those experiences at all. Being exposed to those situations can cause trauma, and many children can make rash decisions. The internet is a dangerous place, even on a music site. It might have good parts, but overall the risks are still there. The parents may not even know about their kids being on this site, because it’s all browser. The parents can’t take safety precautions or be aware of anything unless they find out on their own or their child tells them. We have to consider how the parents will feel. Wanting safety for younger audiences is more important than being included. Can we not take the risk?

An age requirement, a school account denial, restricted mode, a permission form from the parents, or something. It doesn’t matter how they handle it the manner. Children should be protected and risk free and adults made aware. AudioTool should take into consideration that factor. Even if some would see it as “useless”, it’s better to try than not at all.

Speaking of "sue", I saw some degenerates that were actually trying to sue some people here on AT just because of sharing the opinion (if I remember correctly he thought it meant to be cyberbullying, while it wasn't really). I think his name was Dopeslinger or something like that.

I agree, but what if they need help? For example, forums exist certainly to write the issues.

They could email AudioTool, or maybe there would be a new feature added to AudioTool for a user to talk to the moderators?
