(Honestly, I can't remember if I made this request before...)
But, the idea is to make genre pages on audiotool more like users, or at least board rooms, where artists can follow their favourite genres and be notified when new tracks are posted there.

But say somebody follows a really popular genre, such as Trap. Every day they get flooded with notifications that pretty much almost half the site posted tracks in the Trap category, and it would be more annoying than helpful.
You can always change the notification settings.
Save it for the newsfeed rather rather than desktop notifications
That could help, but I still think further filtration should be allowed.
Before I checked off the box that only personal stuff gets shown in the dropdown menu, I'd get easily over 100 notifications about everything that happened that night. I'm just worried people who follow genres may experience the same horrors that I experienced, but you never know.
A possible solution would be an option where you'd only get notifications if somebody you followed (or follows you) posts a song in the genre you followed, but that is already partly in the notifications anyways.
All in all, great idea, but it could use a few tweaks and filters.
We're planning to provide more powerful filters for music. Like: Length, Likes, Age, Mood
and allow to broaden your genre selection.
The upside is that this will give you more relevant tracks.
The downside: Subscription to such a volatile list is nearly impossible. A single track might pop in an out of a list several times within a day. If this feature is still necessary after the change, we need to find a solution for this.
I have some ideas but they would impose heavy load to our database.
