The default in Flash was 100. The default in Next seems to be 89. It would be good to leave this to the user. They could set it to different values through a session to fit their needs, instead of spending time correcting velocities later.

For me, the default note velocity seemed to be 39. But I see that once it's changed, the preference is persistent across different sessions, so never mind. :)
No, in incognito mode the default is 127. I don't know why it was 39 for me. Anyway, it's not a problem. My preference now is set to 100, like it was in Next. I find 100 very useful, because it's easier to create accents on selected notes by raising their velocity value from this "base" value than it is to lower the velocity values of every non-accented note from the maximum. Many systems that deal with MIDI usually have a default note velocity that is not the maximum.
