It would be practical to be able to latch notes produced by the software keyboard. That is, the note would continue sounding after releasing the key (software or computer keyboard) and until the same key was clicked or pressed again. It would be useful during sound design or as a way to generate a drone in a live situation. This could be done through a Latch toggle button in the software keyboard and a shortcut on the computer keyboard.

I like this idea, though I think "Hold" is a more conventional term.
Nonetheless it would prove to be very useful for the sound design workflow.

Usually keyboard pedals that can be pressed to sustain notes after releasing them are called "sustain pedals". "Latch" is a more or less standard term for arpeggiators and sequencers.

@andremichelle It works really well, thank you. For me it would be enough to simply click a latched note (without Shift) to release it: Shift+click to latch, click to release.
