it would be so nice to have a device in which u can put on the end of an effect chain and it just shows you what note is being played...it would help with resampling and even just making sure your effect chains arent messing with the note thats being played.
maybe even make this device be able to then change the note you hear. as in, lets say u have a sample that is one solid note, u can tell this device to transpose the sound down or up one or multiple semi tones and be able to make a melody that you know is in perfect key.

Lets start with one of the problems here: How would this work with multiple notes?
I think you mean a pitch detector. The note being played is obviously the note you press on the keyboard or drawn in a note region.
There are many apps on your phone that could do this. Try and find one that works best for you there, it'll be much easier than asking them to implement this into the DAW.
but u cant do that with samples
it tells you the chord
This really needs to get added. It sucks to try to figure out what notes samples are playing lol
Bc a DAW should have u rely on outside sorces to help u with making music?
aight but what if I'm playing every single note on the midi keyboard at once?
my guy...ur going out of ur way to do smthing to try and break it. id say that if it doesnt recognize the chord/note it shows nothing.
and because every note isnt a chord, nothing will show up
id say if u play more than 9 notes it just shows nothing. but i more want this for when im resampling i can figure out what note is playing so i can make my sub and melodies in key with my basses.
and im sure im not the only one that couldnt benefit from this tool
You know, the questions he brings up are valid ones. I’m willing to bet money that if this device were added, the first thing someone would do with it is try to play a massive mess of notes.
Good thing i answered it, lol
yup lol
You're right. Therefore a pitch detector or tuner would be the feature we're discussing. I was confused by the title. It would also be useful during live recording, to help tune instruments (including singing) to be recorded.
Omg, yessss
So, if its in the talk, why isnt this in the 'open' category or something? Id like to see more ideas from other audiotoolers on the topic
You could play a note in a synth and compare the pitches.
what abt people who are tone def?
i often find pitch detectors unreliable
