In case you haven't found the workaround for this:
Create a tonematrix (or any other synth), use the note output from that and connect it to the input of the 303. You can now use the tonematrix note track for the 303.
Once done, you'll need to make sure that the 303 has constant notes. So set the pattern length to 1 and then turn note 1 on.
Now the tonematrix note track will function.

the note output wont connect
Not the main output, there should be one called "note".

Apologies, I was wrong. Use the normal output.
