DISCLAIMER: I don't like to be blunt, but I have to make sure you guys understand this.
-I am not perfect. I judge entries on production value, and personal value (production value being sound design, mixing, and uniqueness, personal value being how much I like the entry as a whole). I try not to pick entries from friends/popular artists over others just because they're friends or popular, or the mentality that "Their tracks are all great so this one is going to be sooooooo much better than the others," but I do make mistakes and have second thoughts about entry placings. Nobody is perfect. Not my judgement, not your entries, nothing.
-I don't want to anger or displease anyone with the results, but in the end, it is what it is, and you need to accept it. I also don't want anyone to take this as a personal attack, because I care about you guys a lot!!!!! If anything, I care more about you guys than the remix competition itself. I want you to be proud of yourselves for placing, and I want you guys to improve upon your musical abilities no matter which place you do or don't get. I too have to work on accepting the fact that my tracks aren't all perfect no matter how hard I work on them, because when you can't even accept imperfection yourself, you'll definitely hate it when its all explained to you in constructive criticism (or not in criticism and just in the end result).
I think i've shown a lot of vulnerability in this disclaimer, but it's okay, because that was my intention. I wanted to provide the most genuine version of "Hey guys, don't bash me, I DO care about how you feel too" as I could. I could be massively overreacting since there hasn't been a lot of people that went off on me for not placing them to their satisfaction, but I still wanted to say this in case of any passive-aggressiveness that may be lurking. Thank you for understanding and participating in my competitions :)

Well said
Listen man, I gotta tell you something. I agree on your points stating that nothing is perfect, because that is very true. Nothing will ever be perfect. For those that complain about their placement need to suck it up and try harder. It isn’t the end of the world, these competitions aren’t proving who will be “next up” in the industry, these prizes are given by generosity of the competition holder. If people want to take that for granted, you don’t have to add prizes, or even a competition at all. This is all under your will, and I hope people understand that. If anything, not placing where they want to should be an indicator that maybe they should practice their craft more and improve themselves, instead of wasting time trying to argue about why they should’ve gotten a higher placement. Years ago I’ve been joining remix competitions, I never complained about my placement, even if I internally feel it may have been unjust. Other people complained, but that was outside of my control. To get back to what I’m saying, people should not be basing you for that. If their entry gets thrown into an honorable mentions, that should mean that they need to practice their music creation more and better their production. I’m fairly certain that the “better” or “more popular” artists would not stoop down to this level, at least the ones that join your competition. If the not so well known artists or newbies are bashing you, pay no mind to it. You can’t expect to be a beginner and win first place when other people who are more experienced are participating in the same thing. They are just jealous and frustrated because they can’t get good yet, which they can, they just need to focus on their work and not the placement of their entry in a remix competition.
it's just about sharing music. The competition thing is just here to improve your skills and get challenge
Exactly. It's a shame people are forgetting why competitions are up in the first place. People should be able to share ideas and help one another instead of being selfish and simply wondering why they couldn't get a higher rank in the competition. They should want to improve instead of wondering why their unimproved music could not go higher, and then eventually they could get placements, and maybe not even care anymore.
People need to just stop being bitches. Nuff said.
lol i don't think many people even care about the results its something to do xD and if they get bitchy or annoying ban them xD
this is exactly why when i have told myself that a track is finished, im no longer going to work on. idc how many people say "hey, this needs better mixing" or "hey, this part sounds a little muddy" or "this lead has too much presence and is drowning everything else out" when its done, its done. i cant make it perfect, and when i tell myself that its finished, its finished. nothing else to it. i too want to improve on myself as well. and i would absolutely love some help on that. because here in the past few months, i havent really been getting anywhere. my music has just been great, and thats it, but not very well mastered. hopefully thatll change soon, but i havent any clue.
Well, people don't want you to fix it that moment, they are trying to give you advice for your next track.
It's not you being "Perfect", its people on this site trying to be helpful.
and that is why i try out those things on the next track. like space. that was one problem i had, someone gave me crit, told me to have more space and depth, i asked them to elaborate and after that i used more stereo and it made everything sound much better.
