When did music become about getting attention?
I look around and see so many people wanting attention for their music: "check my traq bruh" "follow for follow?" "(everything a promotion scheme says)"
This is why pop music is so terrible, and ironically no one likes it.
~~
Music is a gift.
If you love music, good. If you love to make music, great! If you want to use music just so you can gain acceptance from everyone else, you're a cheapo fuck.
Stop all that bullshit.
Share music, but not because you want attention, but because you want to share your music with the world.
"hey check out this sound I made! wanna collab on it?"
"yooooo that shit sounds dope, but i think it would sound even better if you added [long list of effects and nerdy stuff]."
~~
In short, make music because you wanna make music, not for clout or attention or whatnot.
But also, don't just "do the right thing" because i said so in this post.
I want you to understand WHY its the right thing.

uh...yeah completely agree with this post tired of people wanting attention for the wrong reasons such as charting
well said.
Picture someone sending a link to their track here in the comments
people that annoy me a lot are the guys who follow everyone for a follow and then unfollow them to look like they have a larger audience
gotta have that ratio amiright kids
I mean, the whole point of audiotool being more than just a studio is for people to share music
it's weird to hear this stuff about acceptance coming from an artist that never takes any risks with his music. You only make the most generic, audience friendly content that is currently trending
this thread is not going to help anyone. Why not show these guys better ways to promote and interact in the community.
If the person in question is anything like we’re describing, they won’t listen.
big facts
yeah probably because you called them trash
this entire thread is just beating a dead horse
No, that wouldn’t help, you’re right about that.
But if you give them the advice and they don’t take it, what else can you do?
At one point or another we all bothered the fuck outta a bigger artist on here to get them to collab with us
ok boomer
I've been working on my industrial music and trying out playing live in the past year. I spent a lot of time and heart working on my tracks. Last week I played and as soon as I started singing I completely murdered the dance floor and everyone left. I know that I could have just made some easy techno and done that for awhile, and that people would have liked it. I feel like it would be really easy to also just make an MP3 beforehand and hit play and just DJ. People jammed all night to the DJs playing really standard sounding house loops. I guess I just want to do Industrial still because it's what I wanted to do growing up. And now there's barely any scene for it. It does feel kind of bad when easy effort music gets attention and stuff you cared about falls to the wayside, but I guess that's just how it goes.

Love u man.
shut up
You know what hits the most?
.
Ask what the majority is (imo)...What kind music do you listen to often?
"Hip Hop"
.
Me, listening to a low effort mix they are showing me with off sync lyrics...
thinking..{
"This is the kind stuff you like?"
};
.
What other genres do you listen to?
"Not much other than hip hop"
.
Really!? Have you ever tried EDM? I could show you an example--
"No. I think EDM is shit"
.
This is exaggerated but I've come across this so many times. Kinda hurts. There will be the cases where you want to share with others but they simply don't care.
This is somewhat a vent. Don't @ me if you support Hip Hop; I have my interests, you have yours.
I'm betting it gets attention because it's easy
i wonder who he's referring to
LMFAO
I understand exactly where you're coming from. There's a thin line that balances between "how can I obnoxiously tell everyone about my music" and "I don't give a shit if anyone sees my music" that's where I'm at. I honestly don't care much if I gain popularity or not, but I am happy to at least see people enjoying my music, and it would make me happier if I saw more people enjoying my music. I just don't want to take it to the point where "hey this is pointless unless everyone on AT knows who I am" besides. Music isn't about gaining popularity at all whether you want to gain clout just to say you did something, or if you just want to be noticed. Making music is all about expressing yourself and your creativity to the fullest of you ability. Expressing the way you see the world, how you perceive it, and how you live your own life, reacting to that perception. Expressing your feelings, and your life as though it were a canvas, and the paint is your words, releasing all of that pent up energy, bad or good, sad or joyful, so you can be relieved of that stress, and others can enjoy the fruits of your work and time.
Shut the fuck up~
I come across this too much as well, I understand how you feel and it’s a feeling of genuine annoyance and madness because they can’t understand or even try to listen to good edm or future bass or anything other than hip hop
lmao you dont listen to the same music I do
I make what i wanna make and i share it with y'all
thats it
This is kinda on the line of Art Envy, which is why people would want much attention. Here's a helpful post if anybody wanna read about it:

vvvv That's all there should be
actually it had nothing to do with u
I know, but I want Vizil to shut up
Hot take: people can make music for any reason. It's not necessary to demand that everyone's reason should be that they want just want to make music. It's ok to seek attention. Now, seeking attention without being annoying is a different discussion.
angst
actually it had nothing to do with u
