The idea is simple. You are to pick any genre you know of that is preferably more obscure, and try to learn as much about it as you can, try to find as many pieces as you can that belong to it. About a month from now, you can post any information you have learned about it here.
The why:
When you find music, you generally search for it on youtube, or spotify, or whatever it is. When finding a music genre and searching it up, you are guaranteed to find the most generic of results. This, is way to go deeper than the generic, and find good music. Find amazing artists that are burried beneath the popularity and expand your comprehention of ideas behind genres.
Experimental, as we can all agree, is a very obscure genre. 2 years ago, when I was searching for experimental music to listen to for ideas, I only came across very uninteresting things. But here I am, two years later, and the experimental genre contained and still contains very fascinating, beautiful sounds by many talented people. If I had disregarded the genre as just pointless noise I would have never come to see how wrong I was. For those who are interested, good luck in your search
