yknow its my senior year, and for over a couple of years, ive always sat in class and made music. no matter where im sitting in the classroom, i work on music. to some people and im just playing around with some program unbeknownst to them, but to me im working on somethign special. all these people in class with me are gonna look back years from now, the few of then that know me for my music, and realize just wtf i was doing on my chromebook when i was supposed to be taking notes or doing my school work... lmao. or just spending my free time in a "irresponsible" manner. to them, they have no idea what im doing in class.

I mean to be fair you don't want to jeopardize your future as a musician by screwing up your school life. Regardless of whatever bs we have to learn in it, getting good grades in school is imperative to setting up a good work life, because it demonstrates desirable qualities to employers. College does this on a more job-specific level. Come into a studio to record or a sound tech job or etc with poor work ethic and you're not gonna have pretty results
Work ethic was just an example though, you seem to have good work ethic as a musician :)

see thats the thing, is i dont wanna become a sound engineer for some big name company or work on a music score for a big name film, i wanna do what i love which is spreading positive vibes and creating pretty sounds. do you know if marshmallow or deadmau5 has a diploma or a GED? do you know if they are doctors or if they even went to college? probably not.
ive had several people tell me to go to college because itll help me, but what will it do? teach me a bunch of stuff i already know? beside,s i live in the sound so they wont tell me how to tweak the sound of a sine wave to make it sound spicy, itll tell me how to use an amp and a dist. itll teach me how to use a compressor but not how to mix my music properly. it might, but id have to go to a big name college for that, and spend time learning about things instead of doing things.
I'm not saying you have to work for some big name company or whatever, my intention is just to say that if you fail primary school, you could get denied outright for college and having back-up plan will be a lot harder. Plus, if you want a job to fund your music career at the start, you'd want a job you actually enjoy and pays well. College could help you find what that job is, no? Furthermore, going to college and having unlimited access to audio equipment (if you choose to take an audio class) could help you a lot. Not saying you MUST go to college either, even I'm iffy about going myself, but the current job climate other than minimum wage/labor jobs basically requires it. Don't want you to end up stuck
yeah but what job would i do that would be substantial enough and enjoyable enough that i would want ot choose it as a temperary career until i decide to start doing music full time? i dont want to spend 6 years trying to figure that out when i would have enough time to turn music int oa career by then
I'm not the one to decide that for you because I don't know all your interests. I'm just saying you don't want to settle for a low paying job to live off of before music takes off, and you don't want to completely rely on music being your only income in the beginning stages. Music is a very unpredictable job
ye, I get ya
