Live music is important to any culture. It connects artist to audience, establishes community and allows for unique moments of collaboration.
Audiotool has a community, culture and loads of collaboration. So this seems inevitable. However, there's a few ways to go about this:
Live in-app
The biggest obstacle to performing live in app is having meaningful performance happen when you want your audience to experience it. This could be as simple as a latency issue, or even a larger issue like the entire performance being off-beat for many viewers. Differences in what each viewer's computer/internet connect can also present issues.
The most appealing part that makes me wish this could be a flawless way of performing is having a shared workspace that lets people either contribute or see the full setup. The webcam chat window would be great for the performer, too.
(It would probably be best to disable the public's ability to effect the workspace. There will be that one person who deep-fries or deletes your track)
Also, I can only see doing a "3,2,1, GO!" thing to keep everyone on the same page for when to start :/
traditional livestreaming
This feels like the most promising method. OBS is easily accessible and allows for people to see the full setup in-app. It takes away some of the magic of the audience having the same devices running in front of them, but it allows for a more stable experience. I'd like to point out that this could also present issues that any live performance has: the app could crash, the performance could suck and the use of audiotool could be as nothing more than just a backing-track.
Here's where we go from here!
Let's talk this through and try and figure out a way to do live music with audiotool. I'm planning out a live debut of a new track and I'd love to have some other artists join with me in doing a few live songs. The audiotool discord would be a great tool for this, but I wanted to start the talk right here on the website first.

dope idea man
neat idea
what is audiotool gonna become?
the next twitch like there is so much requests of random stuff but i like this one
and also naswalt instead of making them code the entire windows computer just ask them to host a twitch live lol
there would be alot of bugs soooooooooooo ye
I mean, you can still live stream while hosting a live project. No coding needed, they just click on it from the front page.
oh lol but it would be cool if their was a stream on audiotool page lol
well there is a webcam chat option.
interesting idea, but yeah, the studio just seems too unstable/unprepared for that kind of thing; there isn't even a choice for open projects whether someone can join as an 'editor' or a 'viewer' for example
that would be like the 5 yr olds stream lol
true we need a professional looking kind of website for it to look good also there is a lot of missing features that need to be added
The main problem i think is the lag and problems with loading stuff etc.
A huge loading problem because of the scheduled time they have to log on the collab/stream,
I might be wrong.
I hear you, and I agree. But I don't think you understand me, so just make sure to give this a second.
Latency from the performer would not be the main timing issue. If the performer's signal is delayed (which it will be) then by the time the performer tells the audience to start playing the track and the audience receives that cue don't matter. Their ability to start at the right time (task delay from either a person's computer or themselves) is what affects how they experience.
Now, is this ideal? NO.
"3,2,1, NOW!" does not sound like a professional setup to anyone.
I'd venture so say that we honestly agree on like 99% of this topic. Buuuuuuut you seem to be speaking from a place of either frustration or pride.
you can run a pretty decent cam source set up with proper lighting, framing, even multiple sources/angles if you're tech savvy enough along with a studio quality audio feed into the audiotool webcam chat. The current limitation is how the quality gets bottlenecked because audiotool isn't setup for HD audio/video streaming in the chat.
I'm very fond of this idea
