I know all I’m known for at this point is being the guy who sings the praises of Audiotool all the time, but I feel like it’s warranted now, especially considering things like Andre’s inspiring departure to new horizons, the endless stability of the platform, the vibrant community, the thrilling drama that keeps us young, and the same legendary people consistently gracing the singles chart. Not to mention, so many of the greats from 2017 or earlier are immortalized in our collective memory!
The excitement I felt as an 11-year-old discovering Opaqity’s latest masterpiece, to being a 15-year-old tryhard striving to become an AT legend like Heissen, Johann, or Seb, is still alive in some way. People care so much, and I still see up-and-coming talents sparking fresh conversations on the site (even if sometimes it's a clever po9t alt). I see so many producers who have been making music for 2–3 years consistently improving as they hone their craft. The energy to learn, grow, and lift each other up is everywhere. People know what a saw wave is and are constantly pushing its creative limits. The community thrives on friendly drama, where we debate which teenager is dating which other teenager, all in good fun. Even the established producers keep refining their unique sounds, keeping their passion alive.
A perfect example of the community spirit is the AT Discord! A tight-knit group of about 8 super-dedicated people keep it running smoothly, ensuring there’s always someone to chat with. Other users find joy in the most creative uses of gambling bots, and the moderators keep things lively with their keen sense of humor and inventive moderation. The established accounts breathe life into the site with diss tracks, callouts of long-gone users, and magazines that shine brightly even if only for a moment.
The highlights of the year, like ATD and wholesome teenage banter, are still a joy. As someone who was a teenager on this site from 2015 to 2017, I understand the fun of silly drama—but it’s never just about that. It’s about the friends we’ve made, the lessons we’ve learned, and the inspiration that comes from seeing others create. I aspired to be the next Heissen or Opaqity, not for fame but for the thrill of making music I truly loved.
Make no mistake, I’m not writing this because I crave silly AT followers or winning AT Day (though those things are fun!). Audiotool has been a wonderful chapter, but it’s okay to embrace new tools and challenges. Andre’s work on OpenDAW is an exciting continuation of the spirit of Audiotool—filled with possibility and innovation. It inspires me, just as music production does in general, with tools like Ableton and FL Studio reducing barriers and plugins unlocking creativity like never before.
Music production is alive and vibrant, and Audiotool has played a huge part in shaping this incredible world. Whether we stay on the platform or explore new frontiers, let’s keep the spirit of creation alive.
