If you know how to use the studio but don't have inspiration:
.
-Try remixing another track
-Listen to music you like
-Listen to music in the "latest" section
-Do anything that calms you down
-Try out a different genre or a strange time signature or tempo
-Experiment with interesting samples or presets
-Look at a music theory book
.
If you don't know how to use the studio but have inspiration:
.
-Read the manuals
-Look at online tutorials
-Try remixing another track to see what they did and dissect their techniques
-Don't be afraid to ask for help (but make sure to be specific)
-Try Jumping into it. Once you've gotten some more experience, you can come back to the idea with a better approach
.
If you know how to use the studio and are inspired but can't get it to sound like "music" and not just random notes:
.
-Try automating parameters on your piece
-Make sure that your instruments aren't clipping
-Try to add some variety and reduce repetition (this isn't to say that repetition is bad, but it needs to be used wisely)
-Ask for feedback and be willing to try to apply what people say to you. (try to avoid spamming)
-Use the kickboxes and/or EQs to customize your sound
-Look at a music theory book
.
