Do I suck?

Corona · started 2019-04-17 02:20 · updated 2019-06-13 19:22

When I hit the top 10 charts I felt like I was on top of the world. But now almost no 1 has played or favorited my 2 newest songs. And I'm starting to question my abilities as an artist. In my overreacting? Or have I just lost my touch? I just need some advice right now, please...

Might be overreacting, it takes time to get noticed.

(Real) followers will help to "spread the word". I believe I get most of my followers for being visible on the boards. Especially for helping others. But I have another role than you so YMMV :)

Make music you personally enjoy, instead of making tracks to get noticed. Exposure is completely separate from being a great artist. You could be a terrible artist that's known worldwide, or the best artist in the world that no one knows or cares about.

It really isn't about followers here, but about making the best music that you can in the style/styles that you personally prefer. AT can become a kind of a bubble if you think only about charts and followers. Compare your music to real world, high-level professional productions out there that you admire. Try to reach that level.

I'm very sorry to hear that, Nuc.exe. Sometimes people just want to put you down, just because they are envious of you doing your thing and expressing yourself. Ignore it. Criticism is OK, but it should be constructive, it should help you to improve. Keep making music, look for successful artists that you admire and learn from them. There's a ton of free lessons and advice in YouTube. Don't stop until what's coming out of the loudspeakers makes you feel really good.

honestly, i think the only thing that matters is if you enjoy your music. I don't have alot of followers, and i dont care because the only time I socialize with anyone on this site is when I'm procrastinating on a track

Do you think you suck?
If you're comfortable with your work then you're fine.
Don't stress about how many likes nor what anyone thinks.
