I see a lot of my favorite producers in the music industry not sticking to their own roots. Zedd for example used to make electro house/prog but now makes mainstream pop music. Or Avicii (rip) making country EDM instead of progressive house. Levels is a good song. But then he moved to songs such as wake me up or hey brother.
I wanna know your thoughts on my statement in the comments.

I'm just speculating, but it might have to do with two circumstances: on one hand, they seek to broaden their audience, increase sales and reach more people, therefore they move towards a more mainstream style. On the other, established mainstream pop stars might seek to collaborate with them to add an underground, innovative edge to their music, further pulling them into a less niche electronic style.
This is a complicated question, but a lot of it comes down to "selling out". EDM used to be underground, but for better or worse, it's now in the mainstream. Just like every other part of popular culture, EDM is now dictated by trends, and unfortunately many otherwise great musicians end up following them. Sometimes following trends makes people successful and famous, and other times it's a complete disaster. It's actually not a new phenomenon, and has been known to occur in all sorts of different genres, like rock, hip hop, and of course pop music.
I don't know what to do at this point...
Like fame doesn't mean anything to me. But if I'm famous for something. Then I guess i'll be fine with it.
But music wise. I'm tempted to follow a trend to stay relevant. I want your guys advice though on what to do at this point.
I don't know why you put this on my wall but people change. Soon enough I'm gonna try new genres. It's not like it's a bad thing though.
there's also the idea that, if you spend all your time making the same thing for years, you're probably going to want to evolve and diversify. from a business perspective, not evolving means you'll become irrelevant. from a personal perspective, not evolving means you're going to get complacent and bored with your work. music isn't really an industry people get into to be complacent and bored
They can make the kind of music they want to make. If their audience doesn’t like it, shame.
I mean, someone in the audience is gonna like what they are evolving into.
