Sorry that's all i got :-) i used to have lag a few years ago until i upgraded to a quantum computer. My best advice if you have a desktop computer is to install your browser on a very fast ssd and have a fast processor. On laptops you can try to upgrade the ram to anything with faster clock rate and you can get faster SSD/NVMEs
audiotool runs better than other daws such as FL, ableton and bitwig, that is all i can say. on par with minimalist daws like reaper. tracker-style daws would probably be even more "optimised" but at that point you are relying on whatever VSTs you are using to be optimised
from what i hear bitwig isn't very optimised in the first place anyways, so who knows. maybe audiotool really is just unoptimised and bitwig is just REALLY unoptimised? :-D but i hear this from years ago. maybe they fixed it by now. its also been a while since i've used ableton and FL, can't be hard to experiment yourself with the trial versions if you are genuinely curious how audiotool compares. just trying to share my personal anecdotes

I guess either get a better device or mute the stuff for you to make a beat
this sounds like a dumb question but do you use audiotool booster
Yes.
i normally just zoom into an empty part of the draft if i want to hear the timeline without lag

Audiotool is pretty optimised when it comes to music creation
Also tried that actually, but it's better if you switch to the timeline altogether for better performance.
Wait they optimized it already?

(from my personal experience) i use audiotool and bitwig on my laptop, audiotool just performs better in my case
