A few devices, especially the new ones, lack connector labels ("In", "Out", "Note In" and so on). This can be especially confusing with the Waveshaper, which has two inputs. The devices in question are the BandSplitter, TinyGain, Panorama, Graphical EQ, Pulsar Delay, Helmholtz, Waveshaper, RingModulator, Matrix and NoteSplitter.
Besides that, some devices don't have names: Matrix (it has an unnecessary "DRAFT" stamp), RingModulator and TinyGain (these two can look very similar).

I understand that you wanted to eventually let a designer finalise the UI designs for the devices, so perhaps the designer could fine tune them to incorporate the labels. I also understand that this is very low priority. I just reported it for UI consistency's sake. I personally wouldn't bother with tool-tips, but it could be a good enough temporary solution.
Yes, that could work, although the colour code (or any other solution different than an explicit "IN" and "OUT" text on the device itself) would need to be documented somewhere.
I'm still often reminded of this issue when working with the app. For example, when working with the four Aux outputs of the Centroid. Yes, they have arrows that show them as inputs or outputs. But the arrows disappear as soon as a cable is connected to them. And the desktop being a two dimensional plane where devices can be arranged in any way, cables can cross each other and you might need to think for a second about what is going where. With "In" and "Out" labels next to the connectors on the device itself, this wouldn't be an issue. AT visually imitates hardware devices, and all of them have labels. Also, they were used in every device up to a point, when suddenly they weren't anymore, which leads to a visually inconsistent, seemingly lazy interface.
Now that we have colored cables (with a direction indicator on them), I think the problem isn't that big any more.
We might revisit this topic when working on a concept for a modular synth. But apart from that I'd say we leave it as is for now.
Cable direction indicator appears only if high cable quality preference is active. Usually I have it turned off. I still think a consistent device panel design with arrows next to connectors would be good, but I understand that it's low priority.
