By adding Quantum to a chain I get the volume raised with about 4db in spite all the gain values being set to 0db on the device. However, from what I can tell, the extra 4db are only showing on the metering , the sound not being actually louder.

I've recreated the part that I was working on when I discovered the unusual behavior but can't quite reproduce the problem exactly as in the original track. However If you play with the bypass button on the quantum you will still see a difference if you look at the levels on the bottom bar and the difference although subtle this time is audible. So I'm thinking, as long as the compressor does not have a hidden auto makeup gain it should not bring the levels higher regardless of the values that I type in the device (except for the gain values of course). Am I right?
Is there any other limiter besides the one on the StereoOutput device because I turn it on and off and it makes no difference. The output levels do not reach the limiter threshold in order to trigger it.
It's not a reduction that I experience but the opposite. The levels on the metering bar at the bottom are getting higher when the quantum is turned on. As long as I don't touch the gain values that should not happen.
I cannot open your draft for some reason. But the results that I got after more experimentation are very inconsistent. I still get a dramatic change in the original track though and I added you as a collaborator If you want to take a look.
I've played a bit with your draft and the setup is almost Identical to the one that I created when I first tried to reproduce the situation and of course it didn't happen. That's why I recreated the drum part hoping to get the exact same result as in the original track, so far with no luck. But I'll keep trying.
Hey, I've got it! It's the Waveshaper in combination with the Quantum that's creating the weird behavior!
