This generally works for me (e.g. "master compressor"-preset) but certain other presets don't work. E.g. most "arc...."-presets.
Can you check if you're experiencing the same behavior?
Now that it's been a year, here's what happens for me:
-I can drag gravity presets onto the gravity I already have on the desktop, but it will only work for a limited time before it won't load presets again
-I can double click the preset from the menu to load it onto the gravity, but, again, it will only work for a limited time
-The only sure fire way that it works is by adding a new gravity from the devices menu and then loading a preset on it
Can you name a preset which works at first and fails later?
I'm trying to figure out if the preset, the number of retries, the time or gravity causes the problem.
Any error messages or just "nothing happens"?

So you're getting the same results as me: some presets always work and some always produce an error message: "Warning: could not load preset". See my above comment for some examples.
