In the timeline lane, so that you can transfer the music you've made in desktop...like the A1 box. it says to 'simply right click' to create one. I've worked out that if I use the pencil and press the control key and click that I can bring one up that way but now double clicking the box won't bring up the keyboard. Nor can I expand the time duration ; I'm using a Chromebook but the right click seems to be working with everything else.
OK, I think you mean timeline "region" (the clips inside timeline tracks with content). "A1" sounds like a pattern region. These kind of regions can't be expanded with a double-click because they represent a pattern driving a pattern based device (like a drum machine). Only note, audio and automation regions have editable content and expand with double-click. About increasing duration, maybe the timeline snap value is affecting that. I hope this was what you meant.
Hi Jordi, thanks for getting back. I'm a complete novice at this kind of thing but that makes sense. I'm going back into that studio but I can't guarantee that I won't be back...!
