App layout doesn't react well to window resizing

The app's layout doesn't seem to adapt well when resizing the browser window:

  • When reducing the window's height, the top menu bar (app menus, transport, panels) disappears, making it impossible to reach and use. The bottom menu bar (level meter, status bar) disappears too.

  • When reducing the window's width, the right panel (devices, samples, etc.) disappears. When expanding it, black bars appear at the left and right sides of the interface to fill the gap. The layout seems to also change height if the width is expanded even more.

  • Dragging the corners of the window compounds all the above issues, and you can feel the layout screaming in pain while trying to keep up with the window' size change.

The layout returns to a normal appearance in the window's new size when changing to another tab and returning to the app's tab, or when minimising and restoring the browser's window.

Google Chrome Version 71.0.3578.80 (Official Build) (64 bits), Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS.

I can't say for sure when this started happening. I didn't exercise the window a lot in the last month. I just noticed this yesterday when looking specifically for layout resize behaviour. Anyway, for me at least it's not a big deal because the layout can be repaired easily with the two simple workarounds above.
