Hmmm
well? lol
Saws. A whole lotta saws. With heavy compression. And layers, a lot of layers.
ok, so a butt ton of saws and chords
I listen to and make a whole lotta drafts of future bass but nothing that I want to publish. So I know some of the sound design stuff and structure. Future bass is mainly the chords and bass. Chords are usually 7th chords. Melody is there more as a helper sometimes but can also be the main thing. There's a lot of different ways.
so the seventh chord, is a normal chord, but the top not is dropped a half step. am i correct?
and the chords are heavily layered
A seventh chords is basically a triad with another note from the scale put on it. Yes, the chords are heavily layered but you have to know when to stop layering and what is need for your layers. Usually they're all detuned saw waves, the differences in the layers are the filters and modulation. You can add other wave forms for more flavor and depth if you need it.
An example of a seventh chord in C major to make things simple is C-E-G-B.
yeah
have a look at what i put on my wall
you wanna collab

sure, ive gotten better at future bass

To make good future bass you should learn jazz harmony. It uses a lot of jazz style chord substitution and harmonic extension.
yo that is so true study jazz chords
Don't just learn chords. Learn harmonic structure, functional and nonfunctional harmony, voice leading, that kind of thing as well.
thats why i posted this topic, because i knew there was more to future bass, than a bunch of bass and seventh chords. cause i knew that there were those things, but i did know how to do that, and what it was.
Honestly it's a very deep subject. You might want to see if you can take jazz theory classes because while you can get tidbits from people on a forum, nothing replaces a cohesive, holistic, planned out learning plan.
A pretty decent start in functional harmony (the kind of harmony where each chord serves a "function" in moving along the harmonic structure) can be found at musictheory.net, however.
I always mix up future bass and future house tbh
generic 7th chords and happy trap drums. also its essential to use a butt ton of lfo on your synths,
So first create a melody
Have that melody repeat 1 more time
Repeat the melody 2 more times, but then add a reese or a bass
Add a riser, or buildup
Then you stack at least 3 presets with the same chords
my tip is that you make everything quiet for a second when the kick from the drum hits
Any claps or something should have a delay. Its my opinion.
not rly
as far as lfo
