Question: Do newer peoples music get more noticed than older members´ music?

I see a lot of these new accounts get like 20+ plays on like their first song, when I struggle to get 7 plays on my songs. And my most popular tracks are the ones that I made when I was still new to the website, my latest tracks literally don´t get noticed at all and they´re way better.

  • I just made my first two tracks ever and I'm really in love with them... I put them on Fb, YouTube, and SoundCloud and it's kind of upsetting to me that there are 7 billion people in the world and no one has anyyy thing to say, barely any likes, nothing.. It's only been about a week since creating but I thought I would have more feedback by now. I can't force people to listen, like it has to come naturally, I don't like listening to things just because people want me to.. It's just a sad cycle of wanting to be heard but at the same time understanding no one cares about your work as much as you do yourself...

  • I'm no paragon of knowledge or a super-audiotool-veteran, but I think I can help here. I find myself in a somewhat similar situation. I think the way I've gotten noticed the best is by either...

    1) Interacting and collaborating with the people who are really active on the site. Even if you struggle to be this way on the site yourself, being associated with one of these people would likely boost your presence on the site.

    2) Try participating in remix competitions. If you are browsing the board, notice a competition, and you have some time, join the competition. Early joiners and submitters get the most attention, especially on bigger remix competitions held by already popular audiotoolers.

I wish you good luck in the constant strive to share your work. One thing to remember: If you spam on boards, do it in moderation. (Maybe once a month IMO)

  • nah, its just they interact with the community more. older users who've been active in the community longer tend to have more followers.

the reason why i have 200+ tracks and 13 followers (most follow me for attention) is because i never share or promote my music, because i simply dont want to.

if you want people to start listening to your tracks, start off with sharing your music with friends and interact with people in the audiotool community.

    • You're right, most people are just looking for attention, and I find myself trying to connect with others in hopes that my art will be heard. BUT I also am genuinely curious what others have created. There's a lot of unique, beautiful, spooky, different, whatever tracks that I've found and I genuinely love. I'm just adding my comment so people don't lose hope and know that they actually may be inspiring to others out there. I feel like being an artist can be really lonely, so also not only am I hoping for some acknowledgement by connecting, I also need places, like this forum for example, where there are people who are just as passionate and/or insecure as I am and we can all come together and relate and discuss.

  • Well you unfortunately can’t just publish songs and expect listeners. Do you make yourself known in the community? Most of the more popular people are or were very active on the site. Whether they’re commenting on other tracks or on walls or even in board posts, you’ll see them around. If you are in a smaller niche of a music circle then sure people will be hungry for like minded content. But if you post in , say , the hip hop tab? There’s a bunch of tracks there every week. You’ll never been seen just posting songs. There are people like Vizil or Noir where I checked their stuff out because I literally couldn’t find a trending track without seeing their name in the comments or favorite tabs. Respectfully, if no one knows you exist, then naturally no one will hear your music. Engage other users, and a portion of them will be curious enough to pop on over to your page. Hell, I might check your stuff out myself because you posted this. It’s a bit of give and take.
